On September 20th, the "Tianma Island No. 2" shield tunnel boring machine was successfully launched at the Tangxing Technology Trenchless Industrial Park and is set to play a crucial role in the tunneling construction of the Junan County Doushan Reservoir to Shiquanhu Reservoir Water System Connection Project.

 

This water system connection project encompasses an entrance and exit tunnel spanning approximately 8,000 meters in length, with rock hardness reaching an impressive 180 MPa. Notably, it presents the challenges of dealing with substantial rock hardness, extensive excavation distances, and complex technical conditions, making the construction process particularly demanding. In response to these unique project characteristics, the Tangxing Technology R&D team tailored the "Tianma Island No. 1" and "Tianma Island No. 2" shield hard rock tunnel boring machines. "Tianma Island No. 1" is entrusted with the exit section and has already commenced trial excavations, achieving a cumulative excavation distance of around 60 meters.**The "Tianma Island No. 2" shield TBM, which was unveiled during this milestone event, boasts a 4.41-meter excavation diameter, a total length of 85 meters, and a weight of 365 tons. It is soon to be tasked with excavating approximately 4,000 meters of the tunnel's entrance section. This cutting-edge equipment incorporates innovative technologies, including a heavy-duty hard rock cutter head, a three-dimensional circulation system, displacement shearing and crushing technology, intelligent rail transportation, honeycomb segment assembly technology, and multi-mode filling. These advancements enable it to meet the demands of ultra-long-distance, efficient, and stable excavation within extremely hard rock formations.

 

The rollout of the "Tianma Island No. 2" shield TBM signifies that "Tianma Island No. 1" and "Tianma Island No. 2" are now poised to enter the two-way tunneling phase. At this juncture, the project's construction is speeding up, paving the way for an early breakthrough in the tunnel. Importantly, upon the project's completion, it will effectively resolve the local water supply challenges and provide high-quality water sources to communities along the route. This holds significant implications for local social development.
