During the construction of the Wuxue North Irrigation District Expansion Project in Hubei Province, Tangxing Technology’s HRC2000mm rock pipe jacking machine successfully completed the excavation of a 1,266-meter water conveyance tunnel, achieving precise breakthrough.

The tunnel passes through highly complex geological conditions. The mountainous area has an elevation of over 100 meters, with rock strength ranging from 60 MPa to 150 MPa, representing a typical high-strength hard rock formation. In addition, the tunnel alignment runs close to a high-speed railway line, placing extremely strict requirements on surface settlement control and construction safety. After careful evaluation and comparison with conventional drilling and blasting methods, the project team ultimately selected Tangxing’s rock pipe jacking solution. By leveraging the trenchless, low-disturbance, and high-precision advantages of pipe jacking technology, the project effectively avoided blasting vibrations and ensured the safe operation of the nearby high-speed railway.

During the 1,266 meters of continuous tunneling, equipment stability and construction precision were critical. Tangxing’s HRC rock series pipe jacking machines adopt a “Primary crushing by hobbing cutter and secondary crushing by crusher cone” rock-breaking technology to improve excavation efficiency in hard rock conditions. The machine is equipped with an advanced intelligent guidance and real-time monitoring system, allowing dynamic adjustment of tunneling posture and alignment deviation throughout the excavation process. In addition, maintenance personnel can enter the cutter head chamber under atmospheric pressure to replace disc cutters, significantly improving maintenance efficiency and ensuring continuous operation during long-distance hard rock tunneling.

The successful breakthrough of this project has opened a key link in the irrigation system serving tens of thousands of acres of farmland in the Wuxue North Irrigation District, greatly enhancing the region’s water resource allocation capacity.
